Commercial Description:
Created by Rodney Kibzey, Illinois Rodney describes his wonderfully complex brew as "deep amber in color with a full creamy body and a dark fruit and clove aroma." This traditional Bavarian style brew took Rodney a few batches to perfect, but the taste is worth all of his hard work.

Bottled. Pours dark brown, with a nice tan head, leaving good amounts of lace. Nose is cloves, esters (banana). Flavor is wheat malt and bananas--the banana bread comment of the previous reviewer is a good one. Finish is slghtly sweet. Medium mouthfeel. Nice example.

Bottle. Pours a muddy, amber, large tan head. Good weizen aroma, some hints of banana, yeast, dark malt and hint of citrus and clove. Taste is good, dark maltiness. A hotness or overly spicy tone really stands out here. Bold, creamy, full flavor and body. One thing that detracts from the overall score is the wierd, spicy bite. I prefer my weizen bocks a bit more on the smooth, malty side.

Happily snagged up a single of this as I really wanted to avoid the grape PA that came in the sixer. Pours a deep mahogany with a thin head that is as persistent as any I’ve seen in some time...there’s a film on the top of your beer from start to finish! Aroma is sweet and wonderfully tantalizing...lots of malt character with underlying spices, banana, and some bubble gum. Flavor lives up to the aroma, and then some! Tons of banana, wheat, clove, some nutmeg (and maybe some cinnamon), all on top of a great sweet malt and wheat base...this is seriously what a Weizenbock should be! No let down on the palate either...nice and creamy while stopping short of being overly heavy and a burden to drink. Wow, Sam Adams better sign this up for the long haul...although I’m far from trying most of their brews, this one is definitely near or at the top of the list of those I have tried...great effort...now, sell six packs of just this beer please!

Wow, I’m impressed! A very smooth tasty weizen bock. Bananas, clove, figs and am I nuts or am I tasting mango? Delicious and complex. I bow in obsequiousness to you, Rodney Kibzey. A damned fine job. Too bad your beer is being paired with a mediocre grape pale ale. This is easily the best Sam Adams offering I’ve ever had.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a darker cloudy brown with a nice-sized tan head. The aroma is the banana/cloves that you expect out of a Weissbier. The taste is the same, with the flavors supurbly balanced and yet very pronounced. To me this is a perfect imitation of a German Weissbier. The color is actually misleading, I’ve had German Dunkelweiss, and this is more like a normal weiss with a different color. Altogether very enjoyable and very well-done. On a side-note, props to Boston Beer Company for supporting homebrewing!

Clear brown? Who said this is clear brown? It schlupped out of the bottle like old, dirty motor oil. A thick clump of beer in my glass, it was. Smelled of banasa liike some cheap-ass brews I know of made in Monroe, Wisconsin. Tastes like a band-aid smells. Disappointing and obscene. PASS!

Smells very bready, has a lemony zest to it, slight banana notes. Taste is very strong sweet banana flavor, almost exactly like juicy fruit bubblegum. Delicious.

Pours almost opaque with tall thick tan head that lasts forever. Looks beautiful. Aroma is cloves and esters. Flavor is single-minded to me -- too much cloves and spice with little backbone. Probably just not my style. Nice alcohol kick, but body feels thin and empty except for the clove, nutmeg, and esters.
