Nearly opaque copper-chestnut with a three finger head that lasts and laces well. Aroma is spicy wheat, clove, banana-raisin bread, slight bubblegum and alcohol. Thankfully, the flavor has all the same components, plus toasted nut and slight chocolate. Medium-heavy body is smooth with some tongue tingle, and nice dryness on the finish. Cheers and well done, Rodney! Crafty07 (393), Florence, Kentucky, USA

Great color, lacing, aroma and wonderful fruit and clove flavor with a drying finish. The Bavarians would be very proud, Rodney!

Dark and muddy, and has lots of banana in the taste profile. Lots of banana, and cloves and maybe some peppermint. Very elegant flavor profile. To those complaining about the alcohol: get over it, this is a weizenbock. I thought this was fantastic and that SA should take it into production. djd07 (755), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a medium frothy light tan head. The aroma is clove and bananas. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is a very sweet malt with banana and brown sugar. A good Weizen Bock from Sam Adams. scrizzz (1341), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2008 beautiful look! the deep amber color has a cloudy haze but what really stands out is the thick creamy dense dusty tan head that easily stands over the rim of the glass with pride and authority. great classic german clove aroma but not overly spiced. heavy in flavor, but not heavy in body. tasty beer, some holiday banana bread flavor, but none of the additional flavors are in excess. the roasted wheat stands out and shines with always the full bodied yeast throughout. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Hats off to Boston Beer for their Longshot concept - taking winners of their homebrew contest, brewing them up and releasing them in limited quantities - very cool! And kudos to brewer Rodney Kibzey too. This has a full, bubbly head, and full, fruity, malty aroma. Smooth mouthfeel and a rich, smoky taste - pumpernickel, malt, a little nutmeg, and the right amount of sweetness. Peppy hops in the finish. Like Sam Adams’s Double Bock, this is a solid Yankee version of a bock style. boto (1349), Granby, Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2008 12 oz. bottle: This one pours a quite opaque darker brown color. There was a bit of a creamy tan head on it that dropped off some what quickly and left a little lacing. There is definitely some, but not overly so, clove to the nose. Malts and fruits in there also, but they have a hard time getting past the clove. The taste is good. There is a somewhat creamy texture to the beer. Just slightly sweet, with clove and other spices dominant. Slightly bitter finish. Nice. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Pours very murky dark brown with a large light tan head. The aroma has candied bananas, rich wheat malt, cream, cloves and other spices. Medium / thick rich body with semi-soft carbonation. The flavor begins with medicinal taste that is a bit thin, some bananas and a bit of sweetness - not nearly as rich and inviting as the aroma. The finish has come clove and heavier on the richness than the initial taste. Okay for the style.
