Aroma brims with yeast esters, featuring plentiful clove, bubble gum and banana, along with lighter notes of dark brown sugar, licorice, raisin and faint milky chocolate. Deep, murky reddish-brown color with a lasting, fine, khaki head. Fairly well bursts with flavor, the yeast again prominent and spicy with loads of clove and anise, mingling with the rich, darkly sweet malts and latent fruitiness, finishing with a light-moderate amount of bitterness. Palate is active and gently acidic, body is medium-full. Pretty tasty rendition of the style, and was the real reason I picked up the pre-mixed six-pack that comprises the LongShot package. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Murky brown liquid with a moderate head that diminishes to a lid of beige bubbles. Bananas, bubble gum, and earthy cloves scents. Toasted wheat start with a light cloves and spice coming in mid swallow along with some light fruit (bananas and pears). Finish continues with the light spice. A nice effort with a typically tough style. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Pours with a frothy, somewhat dense, initially three-finger thick, creamy-tan colored head. The beer is a murky, rusty, concentrated amber color that shows a heavily hazy, slightly lighter, dark amber hue when held up to the light. The aroma has a really nice mix of banana and clove notes (clove dominated initially), that has a backdrop that throws in some caramel notes, which then seem to accent the banana aromatics a bit more. As the beer warms up a bit I am able to notice a soft spiciness as well as a touch of tart wheat notes and even a touch of diacetyl that melds into the banana notes. This has a rich, desert like aroma to it, especially with the mix of banana and caramel.
This has a soft creamy mouthfeel to it, though it is not rich or thick. The finish has lightly roasty notes of chocolate, toasted bread, and even a light nuttiness. Up front this beer is sweet and full, which accentuates characteristic flavors of banana, though there is also some notes of prunes, that I would assume is contributed by the malted grain. Towards the finish the flavor picks up some spicy notes of clove that provides a hint of turpene-driven tongue numbing. It can get a little sharp in the finish with the mix of phenolics, probably some light hop bitterness and the other esters, but this is all fairly subtle. There are also a bit of dusty, browned malt flavors in the finish. A soft, welcome tartness runs throughout this beer and is quite characteristic of beers made from malted wheat.
I like the texture of this brew; soft, creamy, yet not heavy a great balance for a drinkable Weizenbock. The aroma seems a little off, which is really only noticeable once it warms up. This is a nice beer though, and one which I would be happy to quaff a couple pints of.
