The aroma was sweetish, yeasty and malty with notes of banana. The flavor was sweet, tangy and fruity with strong notes of citrus and banana and a light hints of clove and bubblegum. The finish was long and malty with banana and bubblegum lingering. Wonderfully complex. jthg (68), Austin, Texas, USA

And, for good reason. The beer has a delicious sweet bread aroma. And, then the beer backs up the aroma with an amazing smooth, but full body. Not much german yeast ester like banana. A little clove... maybe? Overall, a great easy drinking, full beer. Great for the cold days. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2008 12oz bottle purchased as part of the 08 Longshot 6-pack at Lou’s in Augusta. Pours a murky opaque with a half inch of light tan head. Smells smokey, nutty, with banana. Tastes like banana, nut, yeast, with hints of bubblegum and smoke with an almost clean finish. Full-bodied with somewhat subdued carbonation. This beer definitely falls closer to the "sipper" category, but one sip definitely invites another one. Pretty tasty example of a style that isn’t the easiest to come by. RSRIZZO (1369), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Aroma is a bold yeast and sweet malt scent. Color is a deep hazy orange brown with fair carbonation and a tight off white head. Taste is bold, creamy and sweet. Starting with a full/medium body it goes down with a creamy feel. Finish is yeasty with a good dry fruit and a little banana taste and a faint hoppiness. After taste has a very easy bitterness and nice spicy feel. This is a very good brew, its got a Belgian like taste to it and may be one of the best Bocks I can remember having. Its much better then the other winner this year (Longshot Grape Pale Ale). The more I drink it the more I like it. unclemattie (2442), Georgia, USA

The huge aroma has copious amounts of banana, clove, and bubblegum. It really does smell like banana bread with walnuts. Great aroma! The flavor is also great and contains ripen banana, rich caramel malt, spicy clove, and a nice shot of blended and syrupy alcohol in the finish. The body of this brew is medium-full and is thick, full, and creamy on the palate. This was an awesome brew and super fantastic Weizenbock. Mr. Kibzey did a fabulous job on this brew and is one of the best beers that Samuel Adams has evern put on the market! As a matter of fact, I am going to go get another LongShot 6-pack (if I can find one) just to get more of this beer!
Congratulations to Mr. Kibzey on this very fine Weizenbock! As a fellow homebrewer, I know how hard it is to craft a superb beer and this one definitely exceeds all expectations. This was a well-deserved win. Keep up the good work!
12 fl. oz. bottle (7.2% ABV; Enjoy before July 2008) from the 2007 LongShot 6-pack. Purchased at Party Town in Bellevue, Kentucky. Rating #31 for this beer... Heathen (810), Riverside, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 13, 2008 THOUGHTS: A really nice beer. Seems like a ramped up Dunkelweiss. I wouldn’t mind seeing this as a year round offering from someone.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark brown with great carbonation and an average-sized, creamy, off-white head that kept a nice sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma was light to moderate milk chocolate malt, light to moderate yeast, wheat, spices and a hint of banana. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderately acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter and sour with a short to average duration. There was wheat, chocolate, some spice and maybe a hint of banana. The medium body was creamy with lightly fizzy carbonation and a light astringent finish.
