Commercial Description:
Created by Rodney Kibzey, Illinois Rodney describes his wonderfully complex brew as "deep amber in color with a full creamy body and a dark fruit and clove aroma." This traditional Bavarian style brew took Rodney a few batches to perfect, but the taste is worth all of his hard work.

So, I poured this and took a sip. Then I asked The Bride to sample it. She said that it was really tasty. So then I asked her what she thought the ABV was. "I dunno", she said "around 10%, I suppose". Therein lies the only real problem I had with this beer. It is indeed tasty, with really nice fruity, spicy notes - a lot of banana, clove, whiskey, bubblegum, dark bread flavors. But man, did it seem alcoholly. Or maybe I’m just overly sensitive, like some sort of big baby. I wonder if this would age well?

Deep from the back recesses of our second fridge, I find the 2008 Long shot. I hope this is still about the same taste as it would have been a year ago. The pour is a dark mahogany, with a medium light brown head. Aroma is buttery and wheaty. The flavor is true to the aroma with a nice molasses character. The finish is slow and satisfying. Good beer.

I didnt know what to expect comming into this beer. It is my first of the longshot beers. It poured a dark copper brown with great head and a froathy lacing. Tasted sweet but also had a hint of clove or spice, but not too much. Smooth and gives a good palate feel. Nice beer.

12 oz. bottle. Well, one of our boys made it (though Rodney is Urban Knaves of Grain and I’m Brewers of South Suburbia). Dark brown color, a bit cloudy, I think, short layer of foam. Smell mostly of wheat and dark grains. I suspect even this long in the bottle will start to mellow out the weizen esters. But those characteristics are there in the palate: a sweet banana nut bread taste among grains with a bit of roastiness and a bite of yeast. Clove comes out next, with cardamon and poppyseed. Hmm… it’s a muffin in a beer. Almost a bit too much to chew on, but a good big beer that preserves the quirks of good homebrew.

(bottle - 12 oz) Murky brown pour with not much of a head. Aroma is kind of light with some chocolate, banana, clove, and yeast. Flavor is spicy and yeasty at the beginning with a middle of some roasted malts, bananas, and a bit of chocolate near the end. Sweet and smooth when you drink it.

12oz bottle-pours a big retaining light tan head with cloudy brown/orange color. Aroma is nice banana, medium malt-sweet toffee initially, then some medium fruit. Taste is banana, medium malt-sweet toffee/anise with some sharpness, earthy hops, medium fruit. . Mild carbonation.

Pours a slightly hazy tan head. Aroma is yeasty, clove, banana, wheat, and bubble gum. Flavor is wheaty, caramel, clove, banana, bubble gum, and a bitter spicy finish.
