She said that it was really tasty. So then I asked her what she thought the ABV was. "I dunno", she said "around 10%, I suppose". Therein lies the only real problem I had with this beer. It is indeed tasty, with really nice fruity, spicy notes - a lot of banana, clove, whiskey, bubblegum, dark bread flavors. But man, did it seem alcoholly. Or maybe I’m just overly sensitive, like some sort of big baby. I wonder if this would age well? TheOrange (421), Kent, Ohio, USA

I hope this is still about the same taste as it would have been a year ago. The pour is a dark mahogany, with a medium light brown head. Aroma is buttery and wheaty. The flavor is true to the aroma with a nice molasses character. The finish is slow and satisfying. Good beer. gsmitty80 (653), Washington DC, USA

It poured a dark copper brown with great head and a froathy lacing. Tasted sweet but also had a hint of clove or spice, but not too much. Smooth and gives a good palate feel. Nice beer. Well, one of our boys made it (though Rodney is Urban Knaves of Grain and I’m Brewers of South Suburbia). Dark brown color, a bit cloudy, I think, short layer of foam. Smell mostly of wheat and dark grains. I suspect even this long in the bottle will start to mellow out the weizen esters. But those characteristics are there in the palate: a sweet banana nut bread taste among grains with a bit of roastiness and a bite of yeast. Clove comes out next, with cardamon and poppyseed. Hmm… it’s a muffin in a beer. Almost a bit too much to chew on, but a good big beer that preserves the quirks of good homebrew. zach8270 (2139), Henrietta, New York, USA
