Commercial Description:
Big, caramel, vanilla with notes of fruit and malt. Finishing clean and crisp. The package is as elegant as the beer it contains: a cobalt blue bottle with platinum lettering, finished with a natural cork and sealing wax, encased in a cherry wood box. There are only 3,000 bottles of Samuel Adams Millennium, and each is signed and numbered by Koch. A bottle of Samuel Adams Millennium costs about two hundred dollars.

Very nice looking box and bottle. Muddy brown coloured. Aroma of port wine and raisins with a woody touch. Very powerful and vinous flavour with notes of oak, liquor, liquorice and sweet exotic fruits (mango). Very complex and nice. Very little carbonation and syrupy mouthfeel. It would be nice to have a few of these in the cellar.

"Live for liposuction and detox for your rent, overdose at Christmas and give it up for Lent. My friends are all so cynical, refuse to keep the faith. We all enjoy the madness cause we know we’re gonna fade away." These words are from the song, "Millennium" by Robbie Williams. I like to start all my ratings with a quote from Robbie Williams as a warning to younger raters of what strong drink does to you. Robbie used to drink a lot and look at the drivel he churns out. Is that how you want to end up? No. Robbie almost certainly wasn’t thinking of Samuel Adams when he farted those lyrics and thought to himself, "That’s shite but my fans won’t know the difference - book me a studio and a recording engineer." He knew just enough about beer to drink Guinness instead of lager but not enough to know that Guinness is not that good. Of course, he’s tee-total these days because he’s a celebrity and when they tried to make him go to rehab he said, "No, no - oh alright then if it will save my career." Poor bastard. If he’d stuck with the path he was on he just might have learned enough to appreciate this sophisticated sipping ale. Millennium was the last beer served at a spectacular group tasting and it’s hard to imagine a finer conclusion to an evening. It certainly beat a kebab and a fist-fight in a taxi rank. It’s a nightcap, as complex and reflective as a really good whisky. From a Scot, there’s no higher praise. It’s still and oily in appearance, with a nose that blends oak, vanilla, tokay, prunes and maple syrup. My garbled "Flavour" notes include references to coconut, burnt sugars, sherry notes, Madeira, wriggly snakes and lovely. I have as much idea what all that means as Robbie does when he finishes a lyric. But I do know that this beer was something special. (Bottle courtesy of Linc at Sully’s RB Xmas 07 gathering)

Tasted at the RBSG. Dark and cloudy with no head. Vanilla, caramel, and alcohol aroma and taste with some mild sour notes and a dry finish.

Viscous looking and leaves lots of legs. Mellow aromas with lots of rig, raisin, and freshly baked muffins. Incredibly complex with some pepper in the finish to make the mouth go "Wow!" or rather "MMMMM" A true delight to drink and share, thanks everyone--you know who you are!
