This is a heavy beer, almost thick in texture. Brown sugar, milk chocolate and caramel are all around. Semisweet and delicious. A dessert of a beer! dzzz333 (21), Elkton, Maryland, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 28, 2009 bottle from the winter mix pack. Decent spice aroma. The taste is a good blend of malt and spice but the alcohol lingers a bit too long in the finish for my liking, Would not buy again exparte (15), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Lovely aroma of orange, ginger and sweet malt. Nice reddish brown color and a full, lasting head. Sweet malt flavor balanced well by the spices. Perhaps a bit of anise in there with some cinnamon. Full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. This is a lovely winter ale which I would happily drink all year if only it were available in six packs. Highly recommended.
