palliko (12), Colorado, USA Sep 22, 2003 This is a good beer: it has qualities that remind one of a bock. The initial contact is "brown" like the beer: malty, mild, but interesting. The middle is not sweet, but has a nice smooth mouthfeel. I like the after taste: mellow with a hint of coffee. It does have strength. If I were out somewhere and there was nothing else interesting on tap, I would order one.
BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Apr 23, 2008 Notes from 2004 - Not the best thing to ever come down the pike at Sam Adams, but drinkable. A sweet caramel malt background, a bit of salty nuttiness, and some dried fruit glaze the palate, dry finish, but not overly complex. Did nothing to wow me. kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Vienna Style

Dark clear amber, fine light tan head, sweet malt aroma, rich dry malt flayor, not enough sweetness for a vienna

JonR888710 (1000), Cochabamba, Bolivia Feb 5, 2007 Not too familiar with this style, was more remniscent of a strong amber. Poured an amber orange with some brown and a fluffly off-white head. Aroma was roasted malt, dry hops and hints of fruit. Taste was caramel, along with roasted nuts, grapes, prunes and spicy hops. After is well-balanced. Good drinking beer. Mad_Indian (797), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2006 Pours a dark Amber, nice taste. Good malty flavor. It finishes a little weak for my taste but not a bad brew. A slight smokey taste can be found. ruggedman (416), Portland, Maine, USA Mar 10, 2006 Dark amber color with a nice off white head. Aroma is mostly roasted malt. Taste is somewhat earthy very malt based. Some smokey and warming flavors in there also.
