Keg at The 78, Glasgow. Almost black in colour. Brown head. Toasty aroma with fruity juniper. Great tasty stout with juniper dominating, accompanied with soft, earthy hops, that gives delicate bitterness. I normally don’t like UK ales that much. Probably I was craving for ’darkness’ after tons of light cask ales.

Draught at The 78, Glasgow. Near black, creamy nitro head. Tarry nose. Medium sweet with somewhat sticky, mushy mouthfeel. One dimensional tarry flavour. Salty finish. Lame and lifeless like a sweetened Guinness.

(RBESG 2007, Keg at The 78, Glasgow) Black color, briwnish head. Quite mild malty tar aroma. Malty flavor, sourish notes, milk, tar and cocoa, notes. Roasted and with a rather pleasant finish.

Keg at The 78, Glasgow. Black colour, mahogany in the highlights. Creamy head. Moderate aroma, roasty and a hint of vinegar. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Roasty flavour, slightly fruity. Better than Guinness.

Drank at the Florence, Herne Hill on 7.6.07 I found it to be typically stout, however much lighter in body and flavour than others in the market. I didn’t finish it.

This is a nitro keg stout which i think is a terrible stupid idea but this had a little more to it than most. Aroma is coffee, touch of dusty yeast and well roasted malts. Taste has a bit of depth, again cold coffee, roasted barley, smooth, however thin, but i do like this beer and could happily drink it.

Keg at The Three Goats Heads, Oxford. Black / Brown with brown head. There is one good reason to go into The Goats in Oxford, and it isn’t for the beer, no matter how cheap. That reason is for the building and to gawp at the ornateness of the ceilings. This was thin and to be perfectly honest totally boring, some chocolate malt and a little liquorice but flavoured water otherwise.
