Draught, at the Rising Sun, Smithfields, London.
Black with a medium sized thick tan head. Served a little too cold. Thin texture which doesn’t immediately impress. Soft roasted malt flavours which seem a little washed away. Also available on draught at the Citte of Yorke, where I remember it to be better. Nearest tube Chancellery Lane.

On tap at Cittie of Yorke, Holborn, London. Reasonable head, rich dark colour. Some chocolate in the aroma, and similarly in the flavour, with added coffee, and roasted oats. Delicious tongue-coating brew. Smooth, full flavour, a hint of bitterness and a lingering coffee taste.

(Cask Conditioned at The King Arms, York, England) Another fine Samuel Smith's Stout. Thick, black stout pours with a creamy light brown head. Nice combination of chocolate, coffee, and cherry notes.

Draught in London: Thick, black and completely opaque. Creamy light brown head, small hoppy aroma with some burnt/roasted cherries and thick, wet malt. Liquid milk chocolate, with a slight bitterness and lots of wood. Wonderful roasted flavour, like a smore over the open fire. . .

Served in a brandy sniiffer. Jet black hue with a fast disappating head. Chocolate malt coffee and smoke nose. Great complex flavour chocolate tart, a hint of coffee and a toasted taste that just keeps going. A full bodied, full flavour stout that is a joy to drink. Not as Imperial.

Draught in London. Black with creamy head. It is very smooth and has nice notes of fruityness and chocolate.

Pours a thick black with a very thin tan head. Rather mild nose of bitter coffee. thick on the palate and smooth. Very tasty. Lots of coffee and bitter chocolate. Very rich. It drank like a meal.
