CanIHave4Beers (835), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Apr 29, 2009 Pours a very deep almost black color with a small tight tan head.
Aroma is nutty and roasty with a weird chemical thing going on, almost swimming pool like.
Flavor is lovley with some good oakiness, nuttiness, and tons of moleasses. There are some lingering hints of coffee and a nice bitterness that stays with you, and just a hint of plum right there on the side of the tongue.
imdownthepub (5089), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Apr 28, 2009 Bottled, 330 ml, pasteurised. Black as yer ’at with cream collar. Tongue coating sweetness interlaced with a burnt, roasted malt and fruit and then a sweet yeasty alcohol. rich and smooth, some caramel notes giving extra depth, port like sherry notes too. Not perhaps as complex as I am making out here, but certainly a fine beer. SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Apr 25, 2009 Bottle: Poured a thick oil black with a huge caramel chocolate head. Aroma is a roasted malts, dark chocolate, and coffee. Taste is taffe mixed with chocolate. Finish has a coffee bean dryness. JRod (3), , Wisconsin, USA does not count Apr 23, 2009 12oz bottle poured into tulip glass. Pours dark black w/a minimal creamy white head. Tastes immediately sweet and finishes with a bitter bite laced w/alcohol. Aroma has coffee overtones with earthy body like vinegar. A sweet and bitter full body Imp Stout which I would recommend to all to try. l1br4r14n (274), Washington, Washington DC, USA Apr 20, 2009 Pours black with a nice one-finger brown head. Light aroma of sweet chocolate. Flavor is sweet malt, rich chocolate, and a little alcohol on the finish. Light carbonation, rich and creamy mouthfeel. Delicious! Kestral (191), Oslo, Norway Apr 17, 2009 Pours black with a fizzy bubbly brown head that dissipates quickly, no lacing. Roasted malt, smoke, hops and coffee in the aroma. Flavour is much the same, plus some bitter chocolate. Pretty straightforward. Easy drinkable. Could be a bit thicker and smoother. altehkiller (71), , California, USA Apr 15, 2009 Looks almost like an imperial stout with an almost pitch black color. aroma is of roasted coffee and slight smokiness. flavor is of coffee chocolate and smoke. lots of smoke actually. seems a bit too weak in alcohol and flavor to be called an imperial stout. also seems too high in carbonation. however, it is a great beer. hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Apr 14, 2009 Pours a deep pitch black with a nice mocha coloured head. Aroma is very roasty. Coffee, licorice, dark fruits and berries, chocolate, and a hint of smoke are all on the nose. Tastes very smokey. Tuns of coffee on the palate as well, tastes like a French pressed French roast coffee. Just the way I like it. Raisins, plums, currant, licorice, and dark bitter chocolate are present on the palate as well. Mouth feel is appropriate for a imperial stout. Nice bitter coffee finish. Great beer!
