WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA Feb 6, 2009 Bottle.A dark black color pour with a finger of light tan head that hung around for quite a while.Aroma of chocolate, burnt barly, and some earthy, musty, maybe slightly oxidized but still a good aroma. Flavor of cask wood, charcoal, licorice, tobacco, and a touch of alcohol.Full body, with a somewhat oily texture, and a suprise bitter finish. A pretty darn good stout, fun to try,and quite drinkable.

I tried this beer on January 11, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a coca-colour with a fluffy brown head. The aroma was dark roasted malt, bitter coffee hints, and some plums. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, with slightly high carbonation. The taste was bitter with molasses, coffee and maltiness throughout. A very good beer Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Feb 2, 2009 Starts cool with strong caramel malts coating dark fruit flavors, much like a good Belgian Quadruple. Then it warms to a nice nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice hint. This beer hits all the right spots. njbfr (105), New Jersey, USA Feb 1, 2009 Nice stout. SS’s oatmeal stout is better but this hits the spot. Nice aroma. Slight tang on the finish but not enough to make it off-putting. Dredd (484), Ormond, Australia Jan 29, 2009 Aroma is a subtle mix of chocolate and licorice. Pour is jet black with a tan head. Flavour profile is a restrained mix of grainy licorice with a touch of vegemite (marmite). There is quite a long finish which os nice but would have liked a bit more out of it. FriarHop (31), Long Beach, New York, USA Jan 28, 2009 Bottle. This is a prime example of a great Imperial Stout. Pours a dark chocolate black brown. Complex and deep, voluminous flavor. Completely delicious. berkshirejohn (1759), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Jan 24, 2009 [355ml bottle.] Deep chocolate brown with a milk chocolate coloured head that immediately dissipated leaving only a ring around the glass. Malty chocolate aroma. Smooth and silky in the mouth, sweeter than expected but with good body and lots of heavy fruity malts; developing a dry coffee ground finish with some bitter chocolate. Very drinkable. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jan 24, 2009 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. An excellent Imperial Stout. Black colour, slight tan head. Dark nose of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits. Smooth and sugary to the taste. Nice coffee and roasty finish.
