Pitch black color, with a frothy tan-colored head, leaving laces, sweet toasted, cholacote malt, mochaish nose, with some cookie dough, Graham’s cokie accents, with a hint of molasses, ice coffee, and a black chocolate, faint burnt fruit raisin aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet roasted malt character, with some mochaish, black coffee flavors, with a spicy liquorice accent, some dark bitter chocolatey, burnt dark dried fruit accents of raisin, fig, within a warmth mouthfeel, leading towards a roasty, fruity, dark bitter chocolatey finish.

Bottle. Pours a black with reddish hues and a one finger tan head. The nose is metallic, cocoa and light coffee. Taste is roasted malt, black licorice, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is much better than the aroma. Medium semi creamy mouth feel. Good stuff.

The pour was dark as one would expect. A short lived tan head popped up and then was gone. The aroma was fairly standard imperial stout, maybe a bit heavier on the malts than one would normally find. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and thin hops come through. The flavor was malt heavy with chocolate and faint hops. Average, borderline unexciting mouthfeel. A nice traditional example of the style.

Dark brown with a hint of red perhaps? I’m drunk, stupid and it’s dark. I could turn the lights on but that would mean standing up. Coffee, chocolate, as expected but not shouting about it in those areas which made for a very drinkable brew. The man from del monte said yes to this mother hubbard.

Pours very dark and black and a decent head forms that doesn’t seem to last long enough. Some deep rich raisins and other dark fruits are extremely strong in the nose. Smells a bit boozy as well. The dark raisins really come through on the palate as well as a bit of a tar-like flavor in the finish. Other notes of roasted malts and is also a bit spicey.

Bottle. Pours dark and thick with a tan head that dissipated quickly. Nearly jet black in the mug. Complex sweet-and-spicy and roasty aroma. Pleasantly dense mouthfeel. Flavor is strong, but smooth. A pleasant hint of hops, with a bit of chocolate and coffee and other earthy flavors. Very nive stout, and not too difficult to find. This is a favorite in our household.
