Poured dark with a decent bi-color head that stayed strong Initial taste seemed a bit bland to my expectations aftertaste was nice.. Brew may have been chilled a bit too much This does not compare to the Stone or Speedway Stout Taste got better as it warmed - all around good flavor. Seems to have a bitter/sour/tart bite to it that I was not expecting I would drink again but hope to try along side my favorite Imperial Stouts to compare. Certainly not the best IRS.

mmmmm...pours next-to-black with a small, non-lasting tan/hint of rose colour head. aroma is centered around roasted malts. flavour is treacle and other stout staples but they are both balanced and well-defined here. smooth and lingering to the mouth.

A dark beer with a bit of red and a little head. Aroma of caramel, prunes and roasted barley. The flavor is similar, but could need a bit more alcohol.

Pours pitch black with small tanhead that reminds me of a pancacke batter that’s been in the pan for a minute or so. Like when the batter starts to get cook and bubbles ip, before flipping. The aroma is very chocolaty and some alcohol is noticeable. The taste is of bittersweet chocolate. Nice hop aftertaste. Good alcohol balance. moderate carbonation, creamy and silky. Overall A

Poured pitch black from the bottle with a soapy tan head that took its time to receed. I swear this smells like a Pilsner and tastes like a bale of hay floating in a vat of coffee. Flat, almost skunky, with faint carbonation. As far as Imperial Stouts go, this is embarrassing.

12oz. Bottle, approx. 2004. Wow! This was exquisite. SS Impy Stout, aged lovingly in my cool mid-west basement for 4+ years. Very little carbonation left, but a lovely, sweet nose redolent of caramel, molasses and dark malt. Mouth-feel is rich and creamy, with the burnt malt character shining through. Sweet, yet dry finish, not unlike a fine Port. Doesn’t leave the impression of alcohol that’s so often present in American-style Impy Stouts. Very complex. Wonderful fresh, but an excellent beer to age carefully (given the #*^#@! clear bottle).

550 ml. bottle. Pours incredibly dark, opaque, blackish brown, smallish tan lingering head, nose with aroma of molasses coffee, chocolate, wonderful heaviness on the tongue, layers of flavor consistant with the initial nose, finishing with a mild molasses/hop combination. A really nice brew.

Exceptionally good stout but not an imperial one at least in my opinion. Fruity smell has something smoky about it, the taste is richly fruity and I love the chewy malts on this one. Nicely full bodied and sweet in a perfect way. World class stuff, the brits can surely make a good stout! Some finnish blogger calling this metallic has no bloody clue what he is talking about.
