Pours dark brown with a foamy white head.
Aroma is sweet roasted malt, chocolate, liquorice and nuts.
Flavour is nicely balanced with lots of chocolate and notes of sweet roasted malt, dark fruits, nuts and a little liquorice.
This was just what I needed! BlondeGrim (21), Netherlands Sep 4, 2009 bottle 355ml (great presentation) pours black with brown head with big bubles, dark roasted nuts, chocolate with a sweet and bitter finish. Bit too sweet when it warms up but has a great body. Very good. mkade8883 (52), Goleta, California, USA Sep 1, 2009 Updated: Sep 4, 2009Source: 550 mL from KnB in Bordeaux wine glass
Aroma: Milder than I expected. Some molasses and vanilla perhaps.
Apperance Black with 2 fingers brown head.
Flavor: Much more clean than typical imperial stout. Lighter.
Palate: Medium carbonation, short finish.
Overall: Clean, light imperial stout. Drank in taste comparison versus 2008 Stone RIS. Stone was rated better, but this was more drinkable. tomer (365), Rishon Le Zion, Israel Aug 27, 2009 At a tasting, thanks Zvikar, small brown head with big bubbles, dark brown but notcompletly opaque with some reddish streaks, aromas of dirt, nuts, maple, pine and a touch of metal. some light caramel sweetness, bitter chocolate, and a mellow but everpresent smokiness which lingers to a long finish.
very good. zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Aug 25, 2009 Thanks Naam, pours dark brown with a tan nice head, aroma of coffee, chocolate, scotch, nuts and some pleasant acidity, english smoked flavors combined with caramel, coffee, scotch and nice bitterness into the end, full bodied. Very Nice. evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England Aug 24, 2009 Bottle from Windsor Royal Farm Shop. Jet black pour with beige head. Roasted coffee/chocolate aroma. Bitter sweet chocolate, coffee, malty, roasted taste. An incredibly smooth and classy stout. BeerChaser0078 (284), Melbourne, Australia Aug 20, 2009 Bottle. What a great stout. Pours black as a moonless night with a short tan head that leaves a good amount of lace. Aroma isn’t too strong but has roasted malts, coffee and a hint of cherry. Wonderfully creamy palate with flavours of mocha, vanilla, almonds and more roasted malt plus a little smokiness in the background. I find Samuel Smith beers can be hit and miss but this is excellent. This stout really raises the bar.
