. WTF?. Nice beige bubbley head ..black/purple base. Big rich chocolate flavours. I picked up prunes , raisins ,burnt coffee beans .Marmite and wet paint too. Mild hop bitterness glides down your organs cool with the roasty palate. I could drink a lot of this ! McGarnigle (307), Rochester, New York, USA

Has the benefit of being the 1st Imp Stout of the season for me, on a cold wet day. Thick, rich, dark, smooth. More chocolate than coffee, and roasty without being harsh. Any licorice is fairly subtle. Really good. GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2009 Rich dark pour with a billowy dark long lasting tan head. Smells of molasses ginger, cinnamon, tar and tobacco. Taste is sweet with a moderately smoky bittersweet finish. Tasting also brings our dried fruit primarily plumes and cherries. Feel is soft, with little carbonation. Goes down very smoothly. davidm (154), Melbourne, Australia

Aroma of dark chocolate, raisins, port, coffee, and a touch of smoke. Flavour is predominantly sweet, with bitterness at the end, just a bit short to get full marks. Medium body, the mouthfeel is creamy and exuberant. Black colour, with an off-white head that stays for the whole trip. BrewingFan (62), Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 10, 2009 550 ml bottle. Pours very dark brown to black with a nice tan head. The aromas are nice and strong, strong smokey scent, and some chocolate as well. The flavor has a little bit of coffee and chocolate. It tastes like a very strong beer, somehow the 7% seems light for the flavor, which is nice. Palate is medium, not too bitter that it puckers but nice balance. Aroma - Dark fruits, alcohol, cherries, hint of chocolate and smoke.
Flavor - light coffee with subtle chocolate taste. Alot of plum and alcohol taste.
Palate - medium somewhat soapy mouthfeel. Finish is alittle dry and ashy.
Overall - very nice stout. Falls inline what I expected. Tastes stronger than 7%, more like 10%
