Sweet licorice malty aroma with a hint of tobacco and kelp. Med body and lightly carbonated. Great taste of sweet licorice and roasted/blackened malts. This beer has a salt air smell of Puget Sound. Very good. 81605 RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Feb 4, 2008 Updated: May 31, 2008Pours beautiful black with a thick black head. Wonderful aroma of chocolate and toffee. Taste of dark chocolate and toffee that slides into a slightly bitter finish, which has a roasted quality. Beer is faily well balanced. Not quite as big as an American Imperial Stout, but has an impressive taste profile. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 4, 2008 From a bottle--Poured a light brown-black with a moderate to small head. Nose of chocolate and bold coffee malts. Roasty, crisp, and light-bodied for a stout. Very nice beer. Flavor remained on my tongue for a while after beer was gone. A truly classy beer. ubamartian (155), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Feb 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours black. Light creamy brown head. Lacing is decent. Aroma. Banana, bit of roasted malt, oak maybe?. Flavor starts off with banana, leads into a spicy hop, roasted malts, a bit of chocolate and coffe. Leaves a good sweet chocolate bitter finish. Mouthfeel is a bit light but still smooth and dry. A very good stout. Definately going in my beer cellar.
