Wegro (218), Fresno, California, USA Jan 31, 2008 Okay, I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I do but it turned out to be a real knockout. Great malty chocolately sweet aroma. The flavor is similar, reminds me of chocolate candies and plums and raisins. Complex flavor, has roasted malt flavor along with the candy and sweet licorice, some alcohol but not obtrusive. Really glad I picked this up. I may be crazy, but I like how it all comes together. I’m not a huge fan of the oatmeal stout so i was expecting to be underwhelmed, but this is a very nice beer. Also, brown bottle, not clear, which I’m glad to see. vikasdesai (15), USA Jan 30, 2008 wonderful malty aroma, hints of coffee and chocolate, has a bitter finish, best stout i ever drank, JaffaHawk23 (38), Broomfield(via Iowa City), Colorado, USA Jan 29, 2008 Only drawback is it’s a little watery for what I think a stout should be. Excellent flavor and drinkability. One of the best beers I’ve had for overall tingle and taste daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Jan 27, 2008 My comment upon first tasting: "Now THAT’s a real beer!" Light-bodied, very dark, coffee undertones, but nothing overpowering the good ’ol beer flavor. To me, this is how a stout should be. DWestrick (234), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 25, 2008 Updated: Dec 20, 2008Beautiful black color with brown creamy head. Definite chocolate flavor and more (not sure). This is my first imperial stout and I’m very impressed...I really like this and ready to try several more imperials...they seem hard to find though jeg (115), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 24, 2008 Roasted aroma, black color, dark head. Toffee, bitterness, vanilla in the flavor. Tingly finish - very nice. TyRip (40), Canton, Ohio, USA Jan 23, 2008 Aggressive pour gave a modest but thick and frothy head. The nose is not unlike chocolate covered cherries, then the flavor hits with some fig added, and you get a perfect and yet subdued melding together of a tiny bit of alcohol burning and a perfect amount of hops to clean it all up without ever getting an alcohol or hop flavor on its own. The balance in this brew is fantastic. This is much less extreme than other Impy stouts I’ve had, but I would have to say that it is fantastic. It’s also kind of cool that the bottle is clear. I had no idea until I poured my glass. Anyways, a great beer. VonHayes (10), USA Jan 23, 2008 A little disappointing but still pretty solid. Great flavor. Slightly watered down texture. A good brew, on the whole.
