Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2007 Dark browm with big head that leaves fast. The aroma is of light chocolate and maple syrup. The taste is the same with roasted malty finish. Thinner mouthful. This was pretty good, but now adays we americans are use to Imperial Stouts on steriods like Ben Johnson. Beerio (48), USA Sep 30, 2007 This is in my opinion (and from what I have tasted to date) the consummate Imperial Stout. This runs down the throat like black, sexual chocolate...Fuck me for saying it, but America just does not make Stouts as good as the Brits...we may have the cornerstone on great IPA, but our stouts tea bag fairies in comparison... dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Sep 29, 2007 Black, with a massive head that fades to a thick creamy inch and a half. Sweet, almost molasses aroma. Light body, with a burnt malt flavor and modest hop bite. Kirill (264), Durham, North Carolina, USA Sep 29, 2007 chocolate nuts coffee, standard imperial stout, comparable to old rasputin but more hoppy ChrisJ (100), Warrenton, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2007 550ml. Slightly bittersweet smell with notes of alcohol. The appearence is very dark with a slight tan head. Flavors include coffee, chocolate, and roasted barley. There are also notes of fruits present. There is a decided sweetness to this stout. The finish is slightly bitter as expected. Medium bodied and rich. Overall I am not a big fan of the sweetness but this is a fine imperial stout. Jet black, thin beige head. Sweet raisiny and alcoholic aroma - white-board marker pens. Burnt roasty taste - roast ham with plum sauce. Slightly ashy. Goes wonderfully with chocolate cake. zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 27, 2007 Aroma of chocolate and malt. Very chocolaty, malty, rich and sweet falvor. Great finish. Very satisfying beer. Carlus12 (361), London, Greater London, England Sep 25, 2007 Bottle. Pours almost black with a decent cream head. Chocolate/coffee aroma with caramel and ripe fruits on the palate. Bitterness subsides whilst drinking. A good example of how an Imperial Stout is done.
