black with good tan head, slightly alcoholic but quickly disipates to reveal lots of fruity plum aroma, big body, rich chocolate flavor, hint of bitterness in the finish, too sweet, like it’s not completely fermented

Dark chestnut colour. Aroma has light chocolate, hints of grass, white sugar, and orange. Body is thick, especially for the size of beer, with chewy malts, lots of deep fruit (plums, peaches, raisins). Sweet, rich, fruity finish. Sheer quality.

Dark color, brown head. Aroma of liquorice, paper, malt, black pepper, coffee, toffee, hazelnuts; light tar, phenol…; very nice and complex. Strong mouthfeel, dominated by the liquorice, supported by some malt and replaced at the end by the roasted barley.

Beautiful body, but I expected quite a bit more flavorwise. Roastiness, some bitterness, and a hint of alcohol -- somehow, though, it just doesn’t come together.

Oh dear, I don’t think that I can have the same taste buds as everyone else or I had a bad bottle (which I didn’t). Yes it is black yes there is liquorice and a certain amount of burnt roast malt, but after that? Some alcoholic richness in the flavour, but otherwise not a patch on some other stouts. Drinkable though

Opaque black color, good creamy brown head. Licorice and tarry malts in the aroma. Full-bodied. Tar and licorice in the flavor, hints of lactose. Long roasted malty aftertaste. Robust, welldone impy, not really complex but tasty. Alcohol is quite well hidden.

Pitch black with a beautiful, creamy head. The mouthfeel is very oily and very nice. It’s a smooth stout and yet with a nice bite! It has notes of smoke, licorice, chocolate and a wonderful balance and harmony! Two of my favourite stouts are this one and Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout!
