I did not have any problems with skunkiness or anything else that others have commented on. The head of this beer is beautiful--looks like a capuccino head. Color is very dark. The taste is a classic stout with a more coffee flavor with a dark-chocolate flavor thrown in there. The beer isnt as thick as I imagined, which is good and bad. It makes me want to drink it too fast. The best thing about this beer is its long, creamy and pleasant finish. This is probably another reason why I drank it fast. The 7% is hidden amazingly.
re-rate. Aroma is diminished than I remember. Finish is a little watery. willblake (2177), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Aromas of bananas foster, bubblegum, gumdrops. Delicious beer with flavors of plum, prune, charred fruits, burnt toast, licorice, dark molasses. Palate is chewy and burnt, but I could go for more sweetness. The malts are quite dominant until the bitter, burnt ending. Great, widely available beer. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Roasted, smoky aroma with dark fruits, esters, toffee, and mocha. Flavors of smoke, black coffee, and licorice with a dry, bitter finish. Smooth and luscious palate. This stout is superb paired with strong cheese, melon and chocolate. GonZoBeeR (2161), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

It is the classic English style Imperial stout in look, smell, taste and mouthfeel. Soooooo drinkable. EithCubes (2146), Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2007 Bottle. Lots of chocolate and light roast in the nose. Opaque black pour with a large, creamy, luscious-looking rocky light brown head. Sour dark chocolate with vague dark fruits and tons of malt. Roast establishes itself more in the long and darkly chocolaty aftertaste. Light sweetness, medium-stength sourness, and little-to-no bitterness. Medium body with a touch of alcohol and a nice malt complexity. Smooth and sultry. Not the sludgy kind of stout, though has some chewiness, much more refined.
