Completly opaque, dark chocolatey black. Light brown whipped looking had. Pours with a lot of fizz. Aromas of charred wood, dark roasted coffee, alcohol, and some oxidation. The flavor is chocolatey and roasty and really pretty bitter. The oxidation is all threw this beer though. Really thin and watery. Compared to the its American counterpart, lifeless.

Pours black with a big creamy tan head, mostly lasting. Aroma is chocolate and hops, some alcohol as well. Flavor is sweet and mostly chocolate, kind of a robust version of young’s double chocolate stout. Low amount a bittering makes this pretty unbalanced. Body is a little light of the style. More of a sweet stout than an imperial stout.

500ml from Whole Foods, Raleigh (on sale for 3 bucks!). Been a while since I’ve had this, and it’s a refreshing alternative to the ubiquitous roasted-to-infinity assassin stouts. Lustrous dark pour with notes of licorice and molasses, a substantial body and decent head. The woody flavors and molasses really do come through nicely, giving the beer a slightly sticky feel that suits the creamy body quite well. Chewy but still drinkable, and nicely complex.

Very chocolately alcohol aroma. Thin head and pitch black in the glass. Nice chocolate and cherry flavor. Alcohol is noticable but fits well.

Full of taste and life. So many good things going on with this beer. Perfect amount of sweetness. Pretty brown head. Flavorfull to the last drop. I can only ask to get it in a bigger bottle!

550ml bottle. Deep and pitch black. Layer of large bubbled tan head. Coffee roast nose. Toffee and a sweet vanilla cookie aroma. Full bodied with a sweet malt flavor adn a full bitter dry finish. Sweet malts with a touch of red and black berries. Dried dark fruits. Toasty with a slightly smokey flavor. Mildly lively. Strong coffee and bittersweet chocolate flavors. Bitter and mildly astringent hop finish. Slight anise note. Bitter dry finish that is long and rather cloying. Well done.

355 ml bottle. Black color. Small, vanishing brown head. Aroma is vanilla, dark malt, coffe, chocolate. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, liqorize, rasin, port, alcohol... A bit too carbonated.

Wow, this beer looks great in the glass! It pours with a nice thick tan head that doesn't disappear right away. It smells like Molasses when swirled. It starts off sweet and thick in the mouth, and ends w/ a bitterish yeast flavor. Caramel-roasted sweet cherries, if such a thing existed, are in there too. There's a little alcohol at the end too, but it's masked very well. Recommended! Its palate is a bit thick for me, but it has great flavors and looks.
