This is the only stout that i would drink twice. If it came in a case i would drink the whole thing. Its like a meal in a bottle.
Update- i cant believe i didnt like stouts when i first had this, i only had drank mgd and red dog then. So lets do this right, black with a very muddy brown head. Skunked aroma at first, then going into roasted chocolate and nuts. Really creamy, chocolatey, still smooth though, followed with some bitter dark chocolates, very wintery, very smoked, very nice. daniele (1728), Italy

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Nice dark brown with hints of red and a thick but quickly diminishing tan head. Soapy roasty malt, anise. Taste is lots of bitter burnt malt, nice hoppy finish. Chocolate notes, a great beer that is tame for modern imperial stout standards. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2006 Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a thick tan head. Aroma is a rich combination of malts, roastiness, and brown sugar. Tastes more of coffee, chocolate, and molasses with a nice maltiness and light hops. Tastes thick, but the body is rather thin. Great taste throughout and a wonderful stout overall. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA

Doesn’t start to wake up until 58 degrees F or so. Milky, bitter chocolate, excellent creamy feel. I’m not getting big hops here. In fact the bitterness is not big at all. 35 IBUs? A nice zippy finish with a bit of toast. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 16, 2004 my first imperial stout- and lets just say i was impressed. this is a really good beer that i found myself smelling as much as drinking. pours out like motor oil. despite the low alc for an imperial, it still had a kick that gave me a nice warm feeling after consumption. this was great- cant wait to rate a better one than this. awesome BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 27, 2004 Great brew. The first aroma I noticed was cocoa and very subtle coffee. Sweetness is actually very nice as it mixes with the creamy texture that gives more than a mouthful. Nicely carbonated with a nice long buzz on the tongue. Black as tar on the pour with a nice creamy head. One I will have again for sure. jfm (1695), Holbæk, Denmark
