Poured a deep black color, tan head with EXCELLENT retention. Aroma of rich dark roast and chocolate malt. Flavor was a very deep roast malt and chocolate, slight alcohol spiceness, slight carbonation with a semi creamy mouthfeel....Very flavorful beer!

Re-rate 8/24/09: Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks zvikar. Black-colored with a big brown head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, some nuts and light fruitiness. Sweet chocolate flavor with roasted malt, a bit of dark fruit notes and a bitter finish with roastiness and earthy and herbal notes. Full silky body. 7/4/7/4/15=3.8

Ɠ/14/08) Bottle bought at De Bierkoning and drank at a friends’ house in Amsterdam. Black color, seems opaque, with a medium light brown head. Aroma of coffee and some chocolate. Sweetish roasted malt flavor with coffee, cocoa and some light fruit notes. A slightly drier finish. Medium to full body. Great. 8/4/8/4/16=4

Excellent stout. Pours a deep black with a thick brown head. Nice roasted malty chocolate-ly aroma. Great deep chocolate, coffee and roasted malt flavor with some hops. Nice smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Recommended!

Bottle. Black body with subtle ruby glints and a thick brown frothy head. Lovely malty aroma with roasted coffee, plum, hops, and brown sugar notes. Alcohol is very well hidden. Incredibly well balanced and complex malty/hoppy taste. Vineous feeling and hints of plum, blackberries, dark chocolate, and roasted cereals. It ends with a long, sharp and warming finish. The perfect beer on this cold and windy Friday night, and a well deserved reward for a busy week at work.

Dark black cola pour with large muddy gray/tan head. Beautiful aroma of rum raisin. Strong licorice complex flavor, very potent. Mouth puckering dry but slightly bitter finish. Body seems a tad thin for an IS. Great but feel like one little something is missing... the licorice flavor is sooo strong it over powers the other flavors (such as cappuccino). Deserves a 6 on appearance.... the initial pour is quite inviting.

550 ml bottle from Stateline. Poured a super dark brown with a large frothy yellowish beige head. Aroma of vanilla extract, chocolate, roastiness and almonds. Sweet yet roasty flavor with lots of vanilla and chocolate up front plus espresso and dark fruit. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a slight roasty burnt aftertaste that lingers. Nicely done.

Pours extremely black with hints of caramel on the nose. Tastes of a dark porter, with a coffee finish. Very dark and strong.
