| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 2, 2005 Bottle. Black body with subtle ruby glints and a thick brown frothy head. Lovely malty aroma with roasted coffee, plum, hops, and brown sugar notes. Alcohol is very well hidden. Incredibly well balanced and complex malty/hoppy taste. Vineous feeling and hints of plum, blackberries, dark chocolate, and roasted cereals. It ends with a long, sharp and warming finish. The perfect beer on this cold and windy Friday night, and a well deserved reward for a busy week at work. 17thfloor (1507), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 21, 2007 Dark black cola pour with large muddy gray/tan head. Beautiful aroma of rum raisin. Strong licorice complex flavor, very potent. Mouth puckering dry but slightly bitter finish. Body seems a tad thin for an IS. Great but feel like one little something is missing... the licorice flavor is sooo strong it over powers the other flavors (such as cappuccino). Deserves a 6 on appearance.... the initial pour is quite inviting. dmac (1503), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
