Nice thick fine-laced medium-sized beige head. Chocolatey cocoa aroma. Notes of toffee. Distinctly roasted and soft burnt flavours. Some sweetness on the tongue that balances the burnt flavours. Full-bodied. Licorice flavours towards the finish. Not really any noticeable hops in there other than way into the background and that which balances the sweetness. Some of the typical Samuel Smith house character can be found, but not as much as in their porter. A very nice imperial stout. BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal

Fruits, coffeechocs and more, more, more, that I cannot descripe. Licorice, bananas, sticky roastess and burnness in the moutn. Not for the fainthearted. Must try it in the Vintage way. I’ll put one in my cellar. Bullit (1392), Glasgow, Scotland

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2006 Dense black in color with with a double latte-ish head, leaving considerable lacing. Rich milky espresso. Aroma is prunes, chocolate, and a tannic red wine. Flavor also is intensely...purple...plum skin, black licorice, and mollasses. Oily mouthfeel, yes, but not thick, with a bitter espresso aftertaste. A reasonably easy drinker with understated nuance, although not as much as one might expect. Just fine for an imperial stout. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 10, 2005 Beautiful black motor oil looking thing with a nice thick tan head, complex lacing, and what i’m sure is hidden effervescence. Roasted barley is very apparent in the nose as well as dark roast coffee. Heavy coffee flavor with some chocolate and vanilla to sweeten it up some oh yeah and dried cherry. I feel like I’m growing hair on my chest as I drink this. However, I look down and realize that I still have not found that magical elixir.....
