Tongue coating sweetness interlaced with a burnt, roasted malt and fruit and then a sweet yeasty alcohol. rich and smooth, some caramel notes giving extra depth, port like sherry notes too. Not perhaps as complex as I am making out here, but certainly a fine beer. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark

What a delicious aroma. Notes of cocoa and coffee. The flavour is brilliant. Again its coffee that comes to my mind, and some damned good one. As in good columbian coffee it has a pleasant touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. Its overall very well-balanced. This is absolutely a 'to drink again and again and again ...'-beer. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 19, 2004 550 ml bottle. Pitch black beer with a large lasting light brown head. Rich chocolate aroma with a prominant coffee aroma. As it warms, even more sweet malty aroma come to the front, especially caramel, toffee, and vanilla. Flavour is also sweet milk chocolate and coffee on the front with a nice molasses and licorice flavours before fading into a roasty, slightly smokey finish. The finish has some faint bitterness and leaves a nice long vanilla flavour. This brew is as smooth as silk and incredibly delicious. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
