Excelletn stout. Blacker than black (look at that picture on the left and realize it comes in a clear bottle). Fun earthy aftertaste.

Black with a big brown head. Chocolate and malt aroma. Thick and malty, rich and pretty sweet. Well balanced.

this dark stout is strong and roasty. hints of coffee but retains an uncommon smoothness for the style.

Not a trace of sunlight could poke through the body of this black beauty. Thick tan head that can get a little out of hand if your not careful with the pour. Sweet molasses aroma with some coffee hints. Flavor of espresso with very prominent roasted hint that fades into a rather buttery textured finish. This stuff grows on you as time goes by.

Rerate 1/30/03: This is the Imperial Stout that opened my eyes to the world of Imperial Stouts, but I have had better ones since. 4/29/02 (4.7): Wow, just when I thought I had tried Samuel Smith's best beer, this beer comes into my life. At $2.25 a bottle I can't think of a better choice. Wonderfully rich aroma, roasted coffee and smooth chocolate flavor. Medium thick tan head and really nice lacing. This is a new favorite, I can't wait to try it again.

If I must pick 5 Stouts in the World this is one of them. Heavy on the O.G. makes it quite "stocky" full of burnt sugar and a dry finish makes this beer a complete meal.
