beer!
Maybe
the best
aroma I
have
ever
encountered... simular to soy sauce. My
first
imperial
stout...
to me it
had
qualities of
both a
stout
and a
dopplebock. Flavors of coffee, plums, and soy sauce.
Best
when
allowed
to warm
up just
a bit...
let it
set for
10 or 15
minutes
after
you take
it out
of the
fridge
to let
maximum
flavor
come
through. Kicks the crap out of their Oatmeal Stout. Satisfying. Zach Diesel (907), Portland, Oregon, USA

Though many claim the the Oatmeal Stout is superior, in my book Sammy Smith Imperial reigns supreme. One of the saddest sites I have ever seen was when I awoke one morning to two empty bottles of Imperial that my mom found in my mini fridge and poured out. I wept. russ71cj5 (40), Rhode Island, USA

Great aroma, roasted malts with some port-notes and some fruit. Malty flavour, some (dried) fruit, quite bitter but with some sweetness to compensate. Once and awhile some lactic notes shine through. Perfectly balanced and long lasting finish, it makes you want more and more. One of the rare Imperial Stouts that is actually pretty easy to drink. Everything is in perfect harmony, really good. hopshead (24), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

I couldn’t resist this one for too long though, and thankfully finally sucumbed. Truely fantastic. Aroma of port, chocolae, spiced pear, raisin. A very warm flavour, some coffee, chocolate, roasty. Discrete alcohol. Perfect palate, creamy, tad bit carbonated. ogivlado (3095), Zagreb, Croatia

The massive creamy coffee head is fully lasting with excellent lacing. The nose is lighter than I would have expected, but I picked up on flowers, fruit, dried herbs, and anise. The rich flavor is complex and very satisfying. I picked up on licorice, coffee, chocolate, caramel, toffee, dates, and flowers. The ultra long sweet finish was mostly roasted coffee and raisins. The perfect soft full body was syrupy with a chalky finish. Outstanding.
