Jul 19, 2004 550 ml bottle. Pitch black beer with a large lasting light brown head. Rich chocolate aroma with a prominant coffee aroma. As it warms, even more sweet malty aroma come to the front, especially caramel, toffee, and vanilla. Flavour is also sweet milk chocolate and coffee on the front with a nice molasses and licorice flavours before fading into a roasty, slightly smokey finish. The finish has some faint bitterness and leaves a nice long vanilla flavour. This brew is as smooth as silk and incredibly delicious.

Jul 14, 2004 Updated: Nov 3, 2004Bottle 62F poured very dark brown with a thick tan head that has retreated to a film that will not go away. Leaving massive lacing. Aroma is a very rich sweet chocolate and coffee. Delicious. Taste is a bit different. The coffee is there but a bit more bitter. Almost a sour slant. A bit of a let down from the aroma. Not quite as full and rich as I was hoping but still very good. Aftertaste is smoke and coffee and the feel is soft and silky.

Mar 24, 2004 A very nice, very roasted imperial stout. Almost no carbonation. A beautiful roasted malt flavor with a slight hop balance. Roasted malt flavor persists throughout the finish. slightly heavy but the flavor picks up the alcholol warmth leaves off. a top notch imperial stout

Jul 1, 2004 Updated: Sep 11, 2007Black, toffee coloured tall lasting head. Salty aroma with chocolate and traces of red berries. Very rich flavour with more chocolate, coffee, roasted and sweet malts, vanilla, traces of red berries and some smokey notes too. Exceptionally smooth yet sugarsticky palate. Overall excellent.

Jun 16, 2004 Deep opaque black color. Sweet nose. Coffee, chocolate, and sweet flavors. Very creamy texture. There is also a light hop. Very drinkable. Samuel Smith never ceases to please.

Sep 6, 2004 Pours black with a thick tan head. Taste is strong chocolate and mild alcohol. Thick, more chocolate than other stouts. Warming. A classic from Sam Smith.

Oct 7, 2004 Solid black with brown head. Aroma is definite coffee. Taste has same roasted barley/coffee taste. Overall excellent standard for the imperial stout
