Blacker than the ace of spades. Nose is sweet, with notes of figs, fruit, and brandy. Flavor is extremely rich, with the major impression being that of almost straight molasses, but somehow I mean that in a good way. The very definition of what it means to drink a vinous beer, with its richness, smoothness, and strength. Would prefer a bit more carbonation. As it finished, it winds up with just a hint of chocolate for a pleasing end to a lovely experience. A beauty, but Stone and Victory have surpassed this one, as nice as it is. jayme9874 (756), Hamburg, New York, USA

Nice sweet roasty aroma with hints of prunes, rum, coffee, chocolate and vanilla...damn! Medium bodied, almost creamy, huge flavors of roast, chocolate, vinous fruits, bit of whiskey character and an almost woody feel? Liked it has aged in wooden barrels. Nice hop presence to balance this most elegant imperial out. Doesnt have the viscosity of the others but world class nonetheless. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA

Appearance is jet black with a nice thick tan head that lasts. The palate is a perfect 5! Slides accross your tongue and down your throat like velvet. Flavor is roasty with a hint of chocolate and a finish of alcohol taste. Overall, an amazing beer Evster64 (106), Kempner, Texas, USA

I have yet to find it if they do. ... Aroma: Light, with hints of coffee and chocolate ... Appearance, deep brown, nearly black, with very little head. ... Flavor: Wonderfully complex, with coffee, malt, plums, and a bit of chocolate all present. .. The palate is pleasingly dry, with the malts still noticable. This brew ranks right at the top of my list, and I’m pretty stingy about ratings. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
