Poured dark brown, clear; black as night in the glass. Medium sized, initially fizzy head that smoothed out nicely. Froth is a bit thick to lace, so it blotches and coats, but in a nice way. Wonderful smell of cooked bananas and a hint of plum (now prunes?). This beer is a one thing beer, as in palate and taste combined: very malty intake, hit by a burst of lovely, dry carbonation, followed by a sour and fruity(prunes and oh so mild licorice) sweet. Mouth starts watering immediately after carbonation burst and sour(hops)//sweet flavors kick in. Good alcoholic flavor as it warms up. A bit alcoholic warmed up considering the strengths of the other flavors, but overall very good, dry; not overly flavorful, but good flavors.

Pours jet black with a beautiful creamy, tan head. Aroma is sweet, with fruit and a little brandy. Flavor is rich, roasted malts, raisins, chocolate malt, and a little spice. Finish is dry, a little bittersweet chocolate. Very nice.

Poured very dark, with a light, tan coloured head. Aroma is chocolate with some liquorice. Flavour is chocolate, roast, and dry bitter at the end. Thick bodied, very smooth. Excellent stout.

550ml bottle. Poured a deep brown color with a small tan head. Aroma was very sweet of chocolate and toastiness of malt and hops. The taste was phenomial... I loved the sweet chocolate taste with vanilla accents and the balance of the barley and hops was perfect. Very nice beer, I love all of Samuel Smith’s and this one was fantastic.

Aroma was fruity, sweet malt, some smoke, and caramel. The color was black with a light brown, frothy head. I could tell how think the stuff was before I even tried it by how slowly the bubbles were meandering to the top. Palate was think, creamy and had low carbonation. The flavor was of sweet roasted malt, caramel, and moderate bitterness at the end. Only a little hop flavor.

Bottle. 12 FL. OZ. Black beer with tan head. Nice sweet, malty aroma with definite chocolate and some toffee. Full bodied with a soft, creamy texture. Light sweet flavor is quickly overtaken by a gentle bitterness. Nice all around stout.

Pours black with tight tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolte, a slight hint of alcohol, and deeply roasted malt. Thick rich flavours of espresso, molasses, roasted barley and hops. Very complex rich, and well balanced. Perfect amount of hops. Thick mouthfeel with a finish of bitter chocolate and hops. This stout is just wonderful.
