| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 21, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a deep golden color, a bit hazy. Aroma is fruity, with some malt as well. Flavor is dominated by fruity hops, but also a fruity taste, apple, perhaps a bit of prune. Not unpleasant. Palate seems a bit thin, but not bad for this style. Overall a good ale, I’d have this again. kpresley77 (134), Jackson, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 17, 2008 Bottle pours clear deep golden with thin quick diminishing white head with little lacing. Aroma is mostly caramel malt. First taste is sweet but the hops really balance well. Not an IPA like it says on the bottle. But a very good ESB. I really like the balance and carbonation of this one. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 16, 2008 Bottle. Poured a hazy gold color with a small white head. Dank, skunky aroma. Flavor was extremely bitter with a moldy flavor. Hope to have this again and re-rate. Quack-Duck (3339), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2008 bottle, Darts Farm. Clear amber-golden yellow, wuite a large white head. Malty and fruity nose. Very fruity, very malty and very hoppy. All three components play together very well, which makes this beer highly enjoyable. A delicious experience. wcampbell (584), Central, South Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Obviously not an IPA, just from the aroma. Lightly sweet, caramel malty taste. Very mild all the way around. Pretty watery, not a fan of sam smith’s. Reasonably drinkable, but does not stand out in any way. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2008 The lable kinda tricked me on this one, maybe its a very old IPA recipe or something, but it definitely doesn’t fit the modern definition, a very, good ESB in my opinion though. Pours a hazed hard copper. With a thin but dense head that lasts. Aroma is fruity hops and dessert hops, a little apple cobbler and wet leaves. Flavor is sweet at first-apples and full bitter hops, pies crust maltiness. The sweetness tapers off and leaves you with a nice crisp dry earthy hops, and brazil nut finish. Like a great pastry in a glass. Pershing (151), Garland, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 11, 2008 Clear orange with a small creamy head. Good hop aroma. Full hop sensations on the palate with a little malt. An excellent IPA. skibumphishead (180), USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 10, 2008 Sam Smiths are on sale at the grocery store across the street for $2.50. Yahoo for beer on sale! This one poured into my pint glass an attractive copper color with almost no head. The flavors are metallic hops and a mild almond finish. I like the ESB style of beer but I don’t come across too many great ones. I remember loving the Bluebird Bitter at one point. This "India Ale" is enjoyable but not as flavorful as the Bluebird.
