| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 30, 2008 Nice IPA. Samuel Smiths has a habit of making great beers, but I can never find a beer from them that I wouldnt prefer from a different brewer. None the less, well crafted. Mildly sweet, hop galore, not as bitter as expected, and the ABV seems higher then just 5% because the alcohol is very tasy on the palate. But since the alcohol taste is there, it lacks a bit of what you want from a great IPA, which is aftertaste. Fruitfly (59), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 29, 2008 355ml bottle. Good aroma of caramel malt before the rather understated hops. Clear amber color and a slightly oily head with fine bubbles that rise continuously. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Light body and a light hop oil feel on the tongue. Very balanced finish. Although it’s an ale I would recommend, I typically choose an IPA for its range of hop aroma and flavor. This was slightly too balanced. thechandler (271), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 26, 2008 Pours a golden caramel color with a light white head. Aroma is light, a bit hoppy, and more malty than I was expecting. Flavor...definitely tastes like its from Sam Smith’s. Still more malty than I was expecting. Good, light hop flavor too. Nice. specksnreds (55), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 22, 2008 Beautiful golden color, almost dazzling. Mild citrus notes in the nose. Little bitterness. Not long on the palate. Nice mouth feel, but lacked the complexity of some of the American pale ales. Good, but there are others in the style I like a lot more, and they didn’t have to travel 10k miles. PhatB420 (137), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 18, 2008 Pours a reddish copper with a soapy head that quickly fades. Aroma of hops and a surprising amount of caramel. Flavor is bitter hops, a little caramel with some earthiness. Finish is bitter hops.

Clear Amber glow with a off white head. Not a very long lasting head.
Very smooth taste that starts a bit sweet with a typical hoppy bite to finish.
This is a good IPA - much better than others that I have tried.
I poured 2nd half into cold mug. Head (naturally) was much taller and stayed longer. I enjoyed this beer more in the cold glass! SuperDave70 (1158), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Clear amber color with a small foamy head. Aroma of fruit, sweet malt, and a bit of hops. Flavor is much the same, starting out sweet and fruity, and adding a bit of an unoverwhelming hop bite on the finish. Nicely carbonated. Not bad.
