bottle. okay so I must admit a bit of ignorance when I tried this one. I actually was under the impression that it was an IPA (before I rated it). moderate malts permeate with a touch of hops as well. moderate to long finish duration. watery texture. not my favorite from this brewer even if I am an idiot.

Appearance: Pours a clear, copper body with a smallish, frothy, white head. Smell: Lightly bready, candyish malts with fruity hop notes of citrus, pineapple, and apricots. Taste: Delicate maltiness with a small pinch of sweet cracked toffee. Blend of sweetened fruit juices. Tiny hint of cotton candy. Spicy, floral hop character with a light bitterness. Lingering fruitiness on the drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Not a bad lil’ English ale.

335 ml bottle purchased from Central Market in Dallas, TX on 1/3/08 (drank on same day) Appearance: light amber with a very small amount of white head that quickly disappeared. small amount of carbonation Aroma: Maltiness with a very small hint of hops. Taste/palate: light malt sweetness with a small amount of bittering hops to finish the beer. A fairly clean taste on the palate. Not a bad beer, but one lacking in character.

Nice copper in color. Not as hoppy in flavor as I would have thought for an IPA which makes it very easy drinking. Kind of musty in aroma like a dusty drawer. Overall a nice easy drinking brew but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. I guess I hold Samuel Smith to higher standards.

The pour was amber with a thin white, quickly diminishing head. Flavor consisted strongly of maltiness with a nice dry, hoppy finish. There was a little more malt than I expected. Overall, this was a fairly decent one from sam smiths.
