| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Slight smell of orange. Golden pour, medium cream colored head, nice lacing. Little flavor other than a generic bitterness and some light grain on the palate. Horribly disappointing. Clearly not an IPA as it says on the bottle. In fact, it tastes more like a lager to me. milljam (584), Norman, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2008 A decent IPA. Nice aroma of citrusy and some spicy herbal notes. Flavor is decently balanced between the citrus of the hops and the nice sweetness of the malt. Mouthfeel is smooth. changeup45 (798), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 9, 2008 A pretty good IPA. Pours a copper/orange color with a fairly thick head and a nice amount of lacing. The aroma was sweet and hoppy, and a little weak. Very easy drinking but the flavor was lacking a little. I tasted some hops and a burned roasted malt flavor. As the beer warms this burned malt is much more evident. Good but not great. evilsoc (191), Wales
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Copper amber and orange with decent creamy head. Complex malt and mildly floral hop 1-2 aroma. very sweet biscuity malt but it has the IBUs to cope with it nicely. n49921 (108), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a nice white head. Has a more malty aroma with a bit of floral hops. Taste has a bit of hops, a little bitterness. Not overly hopped though. Good, more mellow than I expected. | 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Apr 6, 2008 Bottle....slightly cloudy copper with an off white head....smells metallic--on a strong swirl I get some malts....overwhelming the metal is--an inkling of citrus...body is thin and watery and the metal just ruins the beer...what a shame sam smith usually doesn’t disappoint... | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Mild floral and malty nose. Lovely golden caramel color with a nice tawny head. Wonderfully malty balanced with a good hop bitterness. Caramel and mildly earthy notes dominate. Decent mouthfeel, to style. Rather enjoyable, especially if you judge this as an ESP or English style IPA. Very drinkable. Note, Sam Smith has the best caramel malt profile of any brewery I’ve encountered... holds true in this example also.
