550 ml bottle, Pours a deep amber color with an off-white head that fades slowly, some lacing noted. Aroma was bready, herbs and sweet malts. Flavor is hops forward bitter with spice and some soap; there is a bit of harshness to the flavor. Mouthfeel was silky but a bit thin too. Finish was medium and slightly filmy. Overall this is a fine IPA/ESB or whatever.

Amber ale with a disappearing white head and a malty, caramel aroma; good balance of bitter and malt; smooth mouthfeel; finish is bitter, mellowing to a slight sweetness. It’s a nice ESB for an IPA.

Why’s this classified as a ESB?? Pours a clear amber orange colour with a thin grainy head. Good hoppy aroma with some notes of caramel, oranges, and herbs. Flavours of hops, a very light light malt sweetness, orange peel, and a dry biscuity finish. Very well balanced. All around a tasty beverage. Certainly one of the better Indian Pale Ales i’ve had.

Poured an effervescent golden with a fizzy white head. Clean and crisp slightly floral aroma of some light hops and a bit of toffee. Flavor is light toffee, butterscotch, a bit of apple, some light fruitiness and some floral elements. Butter became more noticeable as it warmed, making it most refreshing chilled. Not bad, but not a stand out in the style.

550 mL bottle. Golden amber with a fizzy white head. Grainy malty aroma. Malty slightly bready taste with little hoppy bitterness for an IPA.

Bottle at home. Amber with a small disappearing head. Aroma moderate malty (caramel) and hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter. Light body. Could be more hoppy, but wonderful anyway.

a nice IPA that is fitting with the rest of the samuel smith brews. very bitter beer but not over powering. a nice citrus taste but can leave a bit of an acidic taste in your mouth.

Loads of pungent spicy english hops mingling with some great caramel malts. Superbly balanced, what a GREAT beer.
