| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Bottled. Sweet fruity aroma, also malty and well hopped. Dark yellow color, off-white head, fair lace. Maltsweet, light fruity, pretty bitter, floral. Full, malty, light dry finish. Well balanced. mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 25, 2007 A bit disappointing. It lacked hop character, tasting more malty than anything else. About halfway through, an annoying sweetness tended to pervade the aftertaste.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2007 From the tap, served at cellar temperature in an imperial pint glass.
Poured a clear orange hued bright copper with a foamy, creamy white head, decent retention, small amount of ringed sticking.
A fruity nose, a little sour, with a light caramel graininess.
Good carbonation and a crisp, dry, velvety smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
What one expects from your standard EIPA, a crisp, dry taste, a soft orangey fruitiness, the hops also have a mild tea leafiness, caramel grainy malts with a touch of butter, and a dry orange, tea bitter, grainy finish.
You can count me as one of the people who appreciates the beers from Samuel Smith, and when I realized at couple of weeks ago that I hadn’t yet reviewed this, I’ve been on the look out for it, hoping to find a 550 ml. bottle, but when I saw this on tap at a St. Louis pub/restaurant at lunch today, I immediately order it. Tasty, balanced and refreshing on a hot spring day.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 19, 2007 Definitely not what I’m looking for in respect to HOPS! There is literally no hop aroma and taste, and this is a total bust for me. Yes, the head and depth is good, and looks like a IPA, but lacks that punch of bitterness and dry finish...thats where it is lacking unclemattie (2433), Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | May 18, 2007 550mL bottle. wonderful copper-red w/ beige foamy head. aroma of mixed berries, smell of a "sanitized" kennel, and the breeze blowing through a grassy meadow. Light malt flavors. Pleasant hop bitterness. Sharp, crisp bitter finish. I would love to try this beer on tap! mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | May 17, 2007 I guess when I grab an IPA, I’m looking for some hops. Someone forgot to bolster that here. I think this is more like an American Pale Ale. It is not that it is bad, just not what I am looking for. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2007 Excellent deep amber color out of the bottle. Nose is mostly malty with hints of apple, caramel, and yeast. Once again when it comes to these English IPA’s, WHERE ARE THE HOPS? I like my IPA’s to have some balls and gusto, this one does not. I guess I am just used to the more potent and unique American IPA’s. This is a well balanced and tasty on the palate, just not what I look for in this style.
