good sweet vs. bitter balance.
Lots of lacing, tons of honey/yellwo head.
Rich malty aroma with a little funk. Better than I expected, but still no real "WOW" factor. Good quality brew. Medium mouthfeel, slightly slick palate. Nice lasting, but not overbearing bitterness. Smooth like honey. Very little conditioning sting / bite. rayg1 (438), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Pours a hazy copper color with a fairly thick beige head. Aroma isn’t nearly as strong as I thought it would be picking up some musty smells mixed with just a tad bit of hops. Aroma leads me to ask the question where is the hops? Taste is definatley better than the aroma. This brew comes out fairly bold and roasty at first with the malts making their presence known. Then a swift transition to the bitterness of the hops. I think most of the hops in this brew are for bittering vice flavor. The brewer seemed to leave the malts to do all the flavoring. Still not a bad brew at all. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Pours a foggy copper color with a thin white head. Spicy, hoppy and bitter it has a nice long aftertaste. Good beer overall just not good enough to make me rush out and buy more. beerbill (1954), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 10, 2007 550 ml bottle. Pours a hazy copper gold with a thin head that lasted to the bottom of the glass. Light fruity aroma. Initial flavor was malt, but not really sweet or caramel, just malt. After several seconds a wave of light hops bitterness washes in and lingers. I’ve become used to the super-hopped American IPA’s; this beer is much more subtle and was quite enjoyable. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 8, 2007 Warm golden with a nice head. The aroma has notes of fruit and caramel. The flavour has notes of hops, light fruit and a nice bitterness, but not as strong as I like an IPA to be. Nice long finish. Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2007 Very good looking brew. It’s copper and reminiscent of an IPA in its nicely hopped aroma. Its easy to drink, but uninspiring. Solid brewfrom Sam Smith. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA

Taste is similar. Nicely balanced as well. I really enjoyed this beer. It’s relatively simple, but still a great beer.
