Very clean palate, and good flavors of hops. Nice bitter finsh. This is called an ESB, but seem more like an IPA to me. Good however. bigcat03 (191), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2006 550ml bottle from Hy-Vee Liquors poured into english pint - Pours a very nice red amber with a .5 finger beige head; Floral hops, and malt to the nose; Grassy and floral hops, and a hint of clean malt on the initial taste; Grassy hops on a backtaste that reminds me of celery; Medium palate; Pleasant carbonation; A good IPA. I don’t think it should really be in the ESB category because it isn’t really along the same lines as the others I’ve tried. Definitely not a bitter beer. Just enough hop presence to let you know it’s an IPA and enough malt to balance it. A decent beer with the spicey chicken I had for dinner tonight. Well done! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 15, 2006 A more relaxed IPA than others I’ve tried. Grassy, floral aroma to start. Light in color with a decent head. Not much carbonation which mellowed it some. Expected much more hop. hammerbeck (101), Kentucky, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2006 A medium body IPA, this one is the original. Nice mouth feel with an earthy hop flavor with strong floral, grassy aspects. Less bitter than many of its American cousins. DJC (238), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2006 Hazy, light amber color, with an off-white head that diminished to almost nothing. No lace to speak of. Semi-sweet pear aroma, and a somewhat dry, caramel malt flavor. Slightly bitter hop finish. Nice carbonation. OK, I’ll have another. orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Dec 3, 2006 Almost no aroma except for a hint of toffee. Dark amber; head fades. Very watery even for a pale ale, let alone an IPA. There’s a hop flavor, but man it’s lame for the style. Try the oatmeal stout. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA
