Bottle at Fox and the Hound Memphis TN: Poured a nice orange color with a quickly fading head. I couldn’t detect alot of nose either. The taste was kinda blan IMO. Was smooth going down just not alot of tase.

I’m just not that impressed with most of the Samuel Smith line, and this was another disappointment. Poured to a nice orange color with thick off-white head that lasted the entire glass, and excellent lacing. Aroma was mildly hoppy, but scent in particualr. Likewise with the flavor, tasty, but nothing special. Like most SS beers I’ve rated, the body is thin and watery, and the palate metallic. Hard to give a good rating with a bad finish.

Pours a nice Golden amber color with a nice white head. Aroma of Caramel malts, with hints of chocolate(yes, chocolate!) Small hint of hops.Has a Malty, bready flavor with a bit of sour to it.Kind of wierd aftertaste as well.

Definitely not an IPA. Much more malt presence here, with some sweet caramel flavors mixed in with the hoppy citrus, which really takes the backseat. Not too remarkable, but absolutely enjoyable (Just don’t expect an IPA).

If you’re a fan of IPA’s, then this is one of the best ones. The aroma is typical of IPA’s, which is too hoppy for me. The taste is very bitter and teh flavor definately tastes heavily of hops. Not the best beer for everyone, because of the strong bitter/hops flavor that not everyone will appreciate. Solid for what it is though.

Amber brew, small foamy white heast. Hops and malt aroma but a subtle dirty sock aroma background. Watery bitter, dirty sock flavor. I can’t believe this is a Sam Smiths. This is not enjoyable.

Pours the color of aged bourbon w/ a medium semi creamy froth. Aroma is old world aged malt. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors; moderate amounts of aged malt w/ over ripe grapefrut upfront that is quickly overcome by a brisk hop bitterness that cleanses the palate. A nice rustic character w/ just a pinch of caramel and tobacco. A nice specimen.

This is the most bitter English ESB or IPA that I’ve tried---and I like it. Tastes like a double Bass Ale to me. Biterness lingers minutes after last sip. Some sour taste too.
