Apperance; dark brown, with a small offwhite head. Aroma of dark fruits and some bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from the LCBO. This one’s vile. Dark pour. Fairly impressive in the glass with a minimal amount of lacing. Aroma was lacking and the taste confirmed. Sour, bitter, burnt chocolate and almonds, with a pinch of coffee. Did not expect this out of Sam Smith’s. I had to double check to make sure it wasn’t Adams. Bearable, but not favourable.

Very solid Brown Ale. Good flavor and palate; a tad too strong of hops at the end. I like the Avery (Ellie’s) a little better.

Yes, "nut brown ale" is right. Great hints of hazelnut (but not to the extent of Rogue’s). Standard Samuel Smith smoothness.

Amber pour into off white frothy head that dissipates into heavy lacings around the glass. Carbonated bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass into a ring of foam around the edge and a swirling pool in the center of the glass. Aroma of roasted caramel malt and walnut husk. Initial flavor of sweet malt, toasted walnut fading into a slighlty bitter hoppy finish that has a lingering almost buttery feel.

Roasted caramel malt aroma with some florals. Pours a root beer/cola color with a tan/biege head that dissipated and could not see any sediment with moderate action. Bready caramel malt bitter almost burnt taste with orange and grapefruit flavored hops in the background. Medium bodied, watery/resinous feel, with lively soft carbonation and a slight hint of astringency. I’ve been reviewing a lot of USA and German beers why not some British beers? This is a session type of Brown ale that has some Bitter character that is not overwhelmingly astringent.

Sample from beer tasting @ BevMo! Mission Valley. Poured a nice dark coffee color with a hoppy aroma. Cream colored head with lacing has a nice finishing palate. Very nice beer tasting of coffee and caramel with a nutty finish.
