Feb 12, 2009 This was the first really good beer I got a taste of. Sad to think that at one time it was the ONLY quality beer that was out there. We have come a long way.

Feb 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate. Taste is the same. Very smooth on the palate. Very complex and creamy.

Feb 8, 2009 Poured from 550ml bottle into dimpled mug.
Aroma - Toffee, caramel,light aroma of roasted nuts.
Appearance - Brown in color with small off-white head that dissipates quickly. Thin lacing on glass.
Flavor - Slightly malty at first, with notes of caramel, nuts, raisins, followed by well balanced hops on the finish.
Palate - Medium. Somewhat crisp. Perfectly carbonated.
Overall - I’m already a big fan of British ales, especially the ones made by Samuel Smith. This is absolutely delicious and very drinkable.

Feb 8, 2009 With a proper pour develops a beaut deep and complex head over a brown colour. Borders on deep and brooding. Nutty and woody with some forest floor. Excellent.

Feb 8, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a large frothy light tan head that lasts awhile. The aroma is a bread malt with raisin and nuts. The taste is a smooth malt with light caramel and sweet fruit. A good brown ale from Samuel Smith.

Feb 6, 2009 550ml Bottle. A nice clear ruby/brown color with a two finger tan head. Aroma of toasted nutty grain and caramel with a touch of fruit im guessing from the yeast.Flavor is malty and nutty up front then you get this little fruit flavor that leads to a spicy,slightly bitter hop finish. Thin body,soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Very nice.

Feb 4, 2009 Updated: Mar 12, 2009Nothing too special. Aroma of caramel malts and a slight nuttiness. Little to no hop bitterness which I like, but it doesn’t balance out the malt flavor well enough.

Feb 1, 2009 Pours a reddish brown with a very frothy tan head. Aroma of nuts, molasses, and malt. Taste was of nutty molasses with a bit of coffee aftertaste and substancial carbonation. Not my favorite Nut Brown Ale but not bad either. I would drink it again for sure.
