Oct 25, 2008 Very remaniscent of the oatmeal stout...not as good. I drank this brew wtih a friend named Samuel Smith which may have induced a biased opinion--we were rather excited about the finding of the Samuel Smith beers. Very solid beer though--distinct taste--thick but smooth. Coffee, caramel, hazlenut taste.

Oct 24, 2008 An attractive deep red-brown. The rich malts come to a sticky sweetness in nose. More body than expected. Crystal flavor with a very mild roastiness. The mouthfeel is pleasant and the drawn out over a lightly bitter and long finish. There’s something metallic that’s a bit unpleasant in both the nose and flavor.

Oct 21, 2008 Pours medium brown with a big ol white head. Obviously very nutty in both aroma and flavor, hints of caramel and tasty hazelnut complement the base walnut flavor. Very interesting take on the style.

Oct 21, 2008 Brown pour with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma of wheat/rye bread, caramel malts and a roasted nuttiness. Taste is of lightly roasted nuts and sweet malts. Abrupt finish.

Oct 21, 2008 Brown colour, medium off-white head. Aroma has caramel malts and nuts. Flavour has sweet malts, bread and nuts. Some roastiness. Smooth, creamy and dry. Nice one!

Oct 20, 2008 Pours brown with a nice off white head. Aroma is faint but malty. Taste is caramel malt with a slight nuttiness. Classic.

Oct 19, 2008 deep deep ruby color, medium tan head, not much lacing. head disipates quickly. aroma of dried fruit, caramely malt. flavor of dried fruit, caramelly, raosty malt, hint of chocolate. medium bodied, a bit too frizzy, nice bitter finish. sort of a smooth chocolate coating over your tongue with some roasty malt.
