The nose is of sweet, nutty malt, some caramel and a bit of skunkiness. While this is coming from a clear bottle, it is easily the darkest beer in which I’ve ever detected evidence of light damage. Medium-bodied and slick with a nutty, toasted finish, the flavor is nutty, caramel malt up-front transitioning to a clear finish with a lightly nutty aftertaste. This is a solid middle-of-the road brown that went well with my steak. It features nothing offensive and nothing particularly exciting. I’d consider getting it again the next time I want to grab a single bottle of brown to pair with a meal, but I’ll make sure to snag it from the cooler or a darker store. tkimbrought05 (37), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 17, 2008 It is quite easy to describe this beer: Nutty and brown. Now, this sounds obvious, but there really isn’t much else to it. It isn’t bad, and it is pretty commonly available, so try it and see for yourself. illidurit (889), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Crystal clear dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma is sweet and nutty, and that’s really it. Flavor is far more complex, with notes of cold coffee, caramel, toffee, hazelnuts, oats, raisin, and a touch of hops for balance. Mouthfeel is good to begin with but starts to thin out with warmth. Pretty easy drinking, although I prefer Rogue’s and AleSmith’s attempts at the style. HughConway (367), Washington, USA
