missing (72), Wichita, Kansas, USA Apr 13, 2009 Great oatmeal stout. The only place this beer suffers in the palate. Perhaps a bit overcarbed for style. Still, it is smooth and sweet with both caramel and toffee notes coming through. A very nice low alcohol stout. durhambeer (1187), Durham, USA Apr 12, 2009 Bottle. Deep dark brown pour with tan head. Roasty nose, nuts, oatmeal, mild chocolate and caramel malts on the nose. Even sweeter, with molasses notes on the tongue. Light, refreshing, silky palate. Lovely low alc stout. A fine beer. jmatty19 (3), Maryland, USA does not count Apr 9, 2009 Very good oatmeal stout but sometimes hit or miss in the bottle. Definitely still a good one though. rabba9 (61), Chaska, Minnesota, USA Apr 9, 2009 The pour is near black with a large tan head that was long lasting. One of the most impressive pours I’ve seen. Smell is of caramel, chocolate and oats. Taste is sweet malts with a hint of dark chocolate and cofee. The initial sweetness is balanced by a slight bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth for a stout., but the body feels somewhat thin for a stout as well. Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout is a solid stout, but I think that I expect more out of something this pricey. Threepwood (24), Australia Apr 7, 2009 This stout poured beautifully, viscous and thick, dark drown to black with a firm long lasting tan/cream head. Strong sweet aromas dominate, toffee and caramel with some chocolate. My first (and immediate) impression on tasting was LUSH; this beer was amazingly smooth, a lovely velvety feel in the mouth but much bigger than the previous stouts. Sweet malt flavours up front, mildly bitter with some caramel flavour and a burnt coffee finish. The note I wrote in my diary is “this is what stout is all about”, I loved this beer and have bought it a couple more times since despite it’s incredible price tag. kuphish (150), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Apr 5, 2009 Bottle. Poured a large, frothy, light brown head. Clear, deep brown-black body with ruby showing in narrower areas of the glass. Attractive lacing as the head subsides. Malty nose - caramel, roasted coffee and dark chocolate, but none of the three are overpowering or especially bold. Light, hoppy aroma of flowers, herbs and earth. Medium, creamy body with soft carbonation. Bitter-roast finish with some additional hop bitterness. A delicious stout that is subtly and deceptively complex. The craftsmanship really shines in the flavors - all of the traditional stout flavors are there and they make their presence known, but they are blended such that no particular flavor slaps you across the face. Masterful. I’ll have another, please. Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Apr 5, 2009 Updated: Apr 7, 2009Bottle. Tre Små Rum. Gothenburg. Black colour with a creamy lasting pale brown head. Mildly roasted, very smooth, chocolate, earth, lightly acidic, coffee, oats, sweetness, not very bitter. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Apr 1, 2009 Bottle. The aroma is nice, roasted malt, light sweet, a little bit of cacao and coffee. The head is large, light brown and creamy-foamy with a long duration. The body is black. The taste started light bitter, the duration is long and the finish is silky. The texture is very creamy, the body is medium strong with a soft carbonation. A very nice Stout!
