There is a wonderful aroma of choclate, coffee and roast malt. The beer pours to the most beautiful latte like head with small bubbles tracing up the edge of the glass into the head. The body of the beer is jet black and almost reflective in the glass. The first taste of the beer is amazing, it starts with a sweet chocolate taste and moves across the palate to a crisp dry coffee finish, which lingers and lingers.

550ml bottle. Pours a black body with a half inch, tan, quickly fading head that remains pretty lacy. Aroma is distinctly "english." Berry fruits, smooth oats, light chocolate, and a faint english roast. Flavor is light and sweet. Has the smooth oatiness to it and mainly berry sweet. Underlying chocolate and a light roast. Leaves a minimal english spice, but not very bitter. Palate is light and carbonated while still velvety and swift. Overall, not my cup of tea. Not what I look for in a stout. Not bad, but disappointing.

Pours black with a small tan head that diminishes quickly. Taste is raisins, milk chocolate, sweet caramel. Aroma is the same. Silky mouthfeel with medium-low carbonation. A good oatmeal stout, drinkable and enjoyable - my favorite beer from samuel smith.

If forced to pick, probably my favorite brewery. The head is capuccino colored and big, with tightly nit bubbles. Not much aroma, just a hint of malt. Taste is sweet, and full of malty flavor, but it’s also very mellow. Palate is soft and silky, and feels great on the tongue. Not overly complicated, but one of my favorite stouts of all time.

[550ml bottle.] Opaque reddish brown body with a soft creamy cream head; rich roasted malt and chocolate aroma, slightly smokey; silky smooth texture with a bagfuls of roasted malts giving a complex mingling of flavours - nuts, smoke, toffee, chocolate, coffee and fruit are all there; well rounded sweet finish with a definite oaty feeling. An excellent stout.

Wonderful beer. Will always be a favorite. Low in alcohol compared to some high octane imperials. This beer doesn’t need to change. Smooth as can be with just the right amount of malt and chocolate flavors. Thank you Sammy Smith for this classic.

Bottle Good roasted aroma, some chocolate and malt. Tastes bitter but not overly very good blend I like this one

Bottle. Obsidian black with a dark brown head and roasted malt aroma. Perfect balance of maltiness and hops and ends with a somewhat clean finish but at the same time a trace of roasted malt that makes you crave more. My favorite oatmeal stout!
