Commercial Description:
Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980.

Almost opaque, with an unusually silky texture and complex, medium-dry velvet palate. Bittersweet finish.

A black colored beer, with a thick foamy dark beige head. The aroma of coffee with chocolate, laurel liquorice, roasted malt and fruits. The taste is dry bitter, coffee, dark malts, with notes of chocolate and fruits. The aftertaste is long bitter.

My absolute favorite stout beer. Good to have when you are really hungry. Has a nice flavor, especially when it has a slight chill.

Pours black into the glass with a small off white head. Aroma is chocolate/coffee and slight notes of raisins. A great velvety moutheel gives way to flavors of roasted grain and chocolate. Really a great stout.

Black with a small off-white head. Aroma of roast malt, grain, molasses and licorice. Rather sweet, almost sugary flavour with licorice notes.

This is my favorit stout to date of any style. Highly recomended. The oatmeal stands out and is distinguisable. Chocolate and carmell stand out. Awsome

Clear mahogany pour with bonus points for a 1 inch cream colored head that just never leaves. Nice lacing, as well. Fragrant chocolate, coffee, and nuttiness. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel. Quite thin for the style. A good sessionable stout.
