Getting notebook online. Bottle. Rich full color with dark head. Sweet creamy scent. Taste is creamy to start turns to fruity dry finish. Sweetness grows as you go, pretty good, very refreshing.

550 mL bottle. Pours black with thin tan head. Smells of sugared coffee. Taste is smooth up front with a thick licorice finish, not very pleasant. Mouthfeel is full and velvety.

Pint bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Taste of chocolate and coffee. Really smooth and goes down easy.

Bottle from Bev Mo, San Francisco, July 2008. Pours a dark black/brown with a thick brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, dark fruit. The mouthfeel is fantastic, thick, a highlight. I taste chocolate, coffee with a light bitter finish.

Re-rate, August 2009. Bottle. This is a dark almost black colour with a beautiful, frothy tan head, one inch thick and whisps of lace all over the glass. There is chocolate in the aroma with coffee beans and a hint of dark cherry. Aroma is also a bit lactic. Mouthfeel is medium to thick. Flavour of coffee beans with some chocolate and a hint of fruit. Finish is medium to long and dry.

Pours black with tan head. Strong coffee-oatmeal aroma with a matching bitter flavor. Fine dark beer.

Pours dark with foamy head. Smells sweet. Tastes like mollases and raisons with chocolate.

A deep brown, mahogany color and slight garnet hue when held up to the light. A full, thick, tan foam head with good retention. Lace sticks well to the sides of the glass throughout. Good clarity. Coffee malt aroma. Some mild roast. Little hop. Inititial sweetness with roasted grain. Mild chocolate/coffee notes leading to a nutty dry finish. Full body, medium carbonation, with a slick oily texture on the lips. Very creamy. Slight bitterness probably from the roasted grain and not the hops. A very enjoyable beer.

Black dark brown pouring beer. Rich roasted malts with aromas of molasses and fruity raisins. Cereals in aroma and flavour too. Balancing bittering hops.
