May 26, 2008 mmmmmmm the best beer that i tasted [for now] mmh!!! good look, a dark deep color, great brownie head, the taste is amazing, a little notes of caramel , coffe and sugar brown. In nouse is gentile, smooth. Great Beer!!! i enjoy it with one brownie cake and looking a NYC film.

May 24, 2008 From a 355 ml. bottle marked SL06C1. Samuel Smith’s products are excellent and when I have some extra cash on hand I like to buy it. This one is a favorite that pours very brown with a beige/tan frothy head that stays on top for most of the session. The aroma is sweet and formidable aroma of chocolate or cocoa. It has such a smooth mouth feel and goes down like cream. This is one of the smoothest beers I have ever had.

May 24, 2008 Bottled brew that pours dark brown with a light beige head. Exciting aroma of fruit,nuts, roast and oats. Bit of sweetness and a bitter bite on the first sip, leading to an explosion of rich chocolate, butter, nuts, and grapes. Final aftertaste is lingering oatmeal and molasses (?). One of my favorites!

May 23, 2008 This is likely my favourite stout, possibly favourite beer at the moment. It’s dark and smooth, which is me all over. Bold coffee and charred something, don’t quite know what but it works. If you wanna get into semi-widely distributed stouts, start with this, and expect to work your way down. I think this beer is flawless.

May 19, 2008 This is a really solid stout, one of the smoothest and best malt profiles I can remember. For only being 5% the weight on the palate and malt depth is very impressive. Soft burnt characters, dark chocolate, that oatmeal smoothness you get. Subtle dark cherry comes through as it warms.

May 19, 2008 Updated: Feb 26, 2009550 ml in Chicago but can be found everywhere in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. This is fantastic! Massive head for a stout- about two fingers. Aroma is of raisins and chocolate. Initial taste though is creamy and ultra smooth with some malt and bitter sweet chocolate. Body is creamy but still fairly light with I guess the oat flavor coming out, which is new for me. Very drinkable with a slightly bitter malt aftertaste. Reminds me a great Oyster Stout though I reckon this one would be heaps better with seafood than Guinness or an Oyster Stout.

May 19, 2008 550ml bottle, pours to thick, brown ale, good sweet smell to it, not overpowering, a slight sweet malt taste, balanced well and is very smooth, cream taste
