fata2683 (836), Panama City, Florida, USA Sep 12, 2009 bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is oatsy with grain and a nice roasted malt backbone. Flavor is nice and roasty silky smooth with tons of black malty goodness. I love it. Daytonbeer (9), Ohio, USA does not count Sep 11, 2009 Excellent stout. Sweet malty aroma. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Smooth and drinkable despite the robust taste. ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Sep 11, 2009 550ml bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a tan thick creamy head. Smells of rich oatmeal malt and a sweet english toffee. Rich flavor of roasted malt, oats and coffee with a slightly bitter finish. Thick, smooth and creamy. brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Sep 7, 2009 Bottle - pours a cola-like black color with a thin tan head. Nose of chocolate, roasted malt, amd coffee. Could sit and smell this beer all day - reminds me of a freshly ground bag of coffee.. just smells so good. Taste of roasted malt, oats, and chocolate coffee. Body is thin with the perfect amount of carbonation for the ideal mouthfeel for this stout. This is without a doubt one of my favorite oatmeal stouts - which is a style that ranks very highly in my house. bblack99 (195), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Aug 31, 2009 The British sure know how to brew a fine oatmeal stout! Deep black with just a tiny hint of reddish-brown light penetrating under a thick, rich head of beige that lasts in a condensed form through the life of the glass.
Roasty oats, amongst other malts, and a nice touch of milk chocolate and a bit of sugar in the nose. The flavor is power-packed with *heavily* roasted malt, a bit of cookie dough, and some dark chocolate and toffee notes. This is one of the most drinkable stouts ever, with a low ABV, creamy texture, and smooth finish. Davros (200), Australia Aug 28, 2009 Black pour with ruby tints. Awesome persistent head and lacing.
Aroma shows sweet roasted malt with some creamy coffee and milk chocolate. Not too exciting, I was expecting more.
Very similar flavours, with roasted grains, milk chocolate and some nutty notes.
Good full, creamy body. caresville (106), Vernon, New Jersey, USA Aug 26, 2009 its easy to give a review when youre currently drinking something... with that said, this stuff smells like fresh baked oatmeal cookies and tastes more malty and coffee like than oatmealesque. easy going down and smooooooth. real smooth on the swallow. my only complaint is i do believe its a bit watered down and that is why i would assume its only 5%. regardless for my first time trying it i love it, samuel smith makes some real solid stuff. GMCC2181 (845), Bear, Delaware, USA Aug 25, 2009 From bigpatmcnelis... Poured into a snifter, dark in color nice one finger head. Good aroma of oats and coffee. Taste is the same, nice oat, roasted malt, coffee taste. Nice texture, perfect beer for its style. Overall a very enjoyable stout. Thanks Pat
