Commercial Description:
Originally a drink for lactating mothers, oatmeal stout was described as nutritional on early labels. Oats are in the same family as barley, and a small addition yields great flavor. Popular in the late 1800’s, the last oatmeal stout was brewed before the First World War until Samuel Smith reintroduced this style in 1980.

Almost opaque, with an unusually silky texture and complex, medium-dry velvet palate. Bittersweet finish.

Great big frothy tan head which settles like a guinness. Very little carbonation. Awesome color of dark brown. Arome of chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is very smooth with dark chocolate and grains present. Slight iron taste also. Finish is creamy and smooth with a slight lingering bitter finish. Also not much alcohol present for a stout. A decent stout and one I would recomend for someone who does not like big thick hearty stouts as the beer is a decent but thin consistency.

Abyssal dark color, pours with a dark tan head, sweet cacao, vanilla, mocha and fruity aromas follow through a smooth medium-bodied palate, with roasted coffee, vanilla, hint of dark fruits in a mild bitter roasted chocolate dry finish.

Pours deep brown into a pint glass. Mild malt aroma. Light and well balanced maltiness. Good sweet stout.

Bottle. Good pour, nearly opaque with a thin loose beige head. Nose is sweet and malty. Taste is very, very smooth with notes of carmel, coffee and roasted hops. Finish is very slightly bitter and smokey. The most amazing thing about this beer is how smooth it is for a sweet stout. This is a very good beer, but I don't think that it is better than Young's Oatmeal Stout.

Fantastic. Beautiful to the eyes with its dark brown body and creamy tan head. The aroma is like mocha. The taste is wonderful. Rich and creamy, chocolate, buttery, slight coffee, full and rewarding. The finish is smooth as silk and leaves you wanting more.

Bottled: Light roasty malt aroma. Notes of coffee, cacao and chocolate. Black color with a foamy, brown head. Flavor is sweet malty, fruity, intensive notes of cacao, hints of plums and cherries. Roasted malt and a nice hop bitterness in the end.
